Travel: Arles - Rencontre International de la Photographie

It has been a while since my last blog. I have been very busy traveling, modeling, designing and working. I have been to Puglia, Italy to model for a workshop for Pascal Baetens and went to Arles for the 'Rencontre International de la Photographie', also with Pascal Baetens. I can show you a preview of Arles, but haven't received all photo's yet.

Octopus

I don't like seafood. I don't like the taste, I don't like the smell, I don't like how we're destroying our oceans to get seafood. So what a challenge it was to shoot with a real octopus! It was dead of course, once in a while they get caught up in the fishing nets and die. We had to cook it so it would stiffen up.

Then... they put it on my head. It felt cold, slimy and liquid kept dripping strait into my cleavage. It also kept shifting, so not easy to pose with. They tried pinning it to my head but that didn't really work. As a finishing then they put Avage Sirup on top of it, getting in my eyes, nose, mouth... It was disgusting!
You might not believe it, but I loved this shoot!

Travel: Londen - Latex Latex Latex

My trip to London with Sara Scarlet has been very nice. We did a short lingerie shoot for La Chaton Bottée (blog entry here) together and I got the chance to colab with some great talent, like ASD Latex. All designs are one of a kind, so I was very honored to model for this brand. On top of that, the dresses are fabulous!

Photography by Simon Fairclough and make up by Anne Sarah Duncan.

This last dress is mine now! <3

Workshop: Splashing Beauty

What a busy week! I have been shooting almost every day, with as highlight the Beauty workshop with Gunther Frans on saturday.

You just have to love them all. It's impossible to say which one is my favorite. They are all so different and still are were made within 6 hours. Make up is done by the lovely Stefanie Grootaers, who is very pregnant at the moment :)

I love how my eyes turned green/grey in this one. It enhances the Nymph effect. I have brown/green eyes, sometimes more amber, sometimes more green, but never this light.

Well, luckily the water was warm! At first, we weren't convinced of the jewelry, but after the first shot, we saw how great it looked. I managed to keep my eyes open quite well, I surprised myself and the participants. It wasn't always easy though, because I was wearing lashes and they collapsed under the weight of the water. Also, I had some hairspray in my hair that ran down along with the water and it wasn't a nice feeling when that water reached my eyes... Nevertheless, the most fun theme I ever did!

We almost skipped this one due to time-shortage. It was planned as an extra if there was still enough time for one more. But I really wanted to do this. Not bad huh, for a back-up plan... :)

A very important part of being (or trying to be) a successful freelance model is knowing how you profile yourself to the outworld. This can be what you post online or not, but also what others put online about you. For example, I google myself now and then, to see which images show up if someone would try to find me. And sometimes I discover new photos I had never seen before.

Another day of snow

It is March and it is still snowing. You can feel the lack of sunshine in each muscle of your body. The weather weighs on your mood, you are feeling down and slightly depressed. Traffic is slow, you can't go out, it sucks...

The solution: Nude Art Photography in the snow! With every inch of skin catching the sun, your batteries get fully loaded in 5 minutes. Not to mention the laugh you'll have while skinny dipping in the snow. It gives great and slightly unique photos - not every one is up for it. I did it for the fourth time and it wasn't even that cold! :)

Travel: Paris

It has been rather quiet during the holidays. I was happy to enjoy a week off without modeling, sewing or photography.

But now it's time to get back to work, and how! Location for the first shoot of the year: Paris. Is there a better way to start? First we did a boudoir shoot in a beautiful hotel room, to go on to the Eiffel tower for a few more shots. Unfortunately, the weather was drooly  - the beautiful curls in my hair got messed up, make up ran out, it was cold and I felt miserable - so the outside shots didn't turn out as planned.

The hotel room was at the 3 stars George Sand hotel in Courbevoie. I don't know if this was the actual house of George Sand or that the hotel was only named after her. The entire hotel makes you feel like you returned to the nineteenth century. Though we had one of the smaller rooms of the hotel, it looked really nice:

Here is the result:
